From 8 to 19 August 2026, Oslo will become the center of international Antarctic research as the 12th SCAR Open Science Conference takes place<\/a>.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The conference will bring together scientists from around the world for a diverse program featuring keynote lectures, mini-symposia, parallel sessions, panel discussions, and poster presentations. In addition, participants can look forward to an inspiring social program.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) and the Norwegian Polar Institute are behind the invitation to what promises to be a unique arena for knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration across disciplines and borders. The SCAR Open Science Conference is held every two years.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Will showcase cutting-edge research<\/h2>\n

With the overarching theme <\/span>\u201cDiving into Antarctic science \u2013 making waves for the future,\u201d<\/span><\/i> the 2026 conference will showcase cutting-edge research and foster collaboration for a sustainable future.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an important arena for sharing knowledge and strengthening collaboration on Antarctic research, which is crucial for understanding and addressing global challenges\u201d<\/em>, says Camilla Brekke, Director of the Norwegian Polar Institute.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe SCAR conference brings together some of the leading experts on Antarctic research. We look forward to presenting Oslo and Norway as a meeting place for international science and dialogue,\u201d<\/em> she adds.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
